Painting and Poetry

This morning Ron showed me some art quotations in a book that we have.  Here is one I particularly liked:

“Painting is silent poetry, 

and poetry is painting that speaks.”  

-Simonides 6th-5th century, B.C.

Since I write poetry to go with some of my paintings, I really like that quote.
